Conference "Facing the Holocaust Today"

You are invited to an international online conference for teachers "Facing the Holocaust Today", which is held on 9th - 11th September 2021. The conference is held on the 80th anniversary of the Jewish codex (anti-jewish laws) in Slovakia. 

The aim of the conference is to inspire, share good practice, introduce tools in history education, but also an opportunity how to work within the class with topics as discrimination, human rights, and critical thinking. The guests from Czech Republic, Hungary, USA, and Slovakia will lead workshops, discussions and presentations. 

How does the conference work?

  • we will meet  each day 14:00 - 18:00 (CET) on Zoom and we will  stream live to the Foundation's Facebook page
  • the main program of the conference is interpreted to/from English and Slovak language (only on Zoom)
  • you can apply for each day of the program or only for specific workshops
  • simultaneously is running the main program and so-called "off program"
  • the conference is free
  • registration link is below

  • teachers of primary schools
  • teachers of high schools
  • teachers of history, ethical education, or similar subjects

Milan Šimečka

Nadácia Milana Šimečku vznikla vo februári 1991 a aj preto patrí medzi najstaršie mimovládne organizácie na Slovensku. Nesie meno človeka, ktorý bol v bývalom Československu významným disidentom, mysliteľom, filozofom a spisovateľom. Krátko po jeho smrti sa jeho priatelia (Martin Bútora, Juraj Flamik, Fedor Gál, Miroslav Kusý, František Mikloško, Peter Tatár a Peter Zajac) rozhodli založiť inštitúciu, ktorej cieľom je podnecovať a podporovať aktivity smerujúce k rozvoju demokracie, kultúry, tolerancie a občianskej spoločnosti.
